Welcome to this 2nd Edition of my memoirs titled “The Significance of Others – A Tribute to My Many Friends.”

Starting August 7, if you subscribe – it’s free! – each weekday you will get a Tribute via email. There are 20 of them – each a short 2 – 3 minute read. Not subscribed? Sign up here!

I was reading Bill Clinton’s My Life when it struck me the most interesting part was reading about the people he met along the way. I thought, “Geez, I’ve met some pretty interesting people as well” – thus the Tributes.

Writing the Tributes inspired me to finish a novel I’d been working on for years, The Rumpkins, a golden-years romance, a travel adventure ensnared in a murder mystery, about seven Minnesotans in search of themselves, in search of their country, looking for a better body politic. Following the Tributes, a chapter a day will arrive in your inbox – again, each a short 2 – 3 minute read.

I’ve also written a four-act play based on the journey of Saint Paul mom Sara Jane Olson, the one-time Symbionese Liberation Army activist, titled “A Complex Apology.” You can find that by clicking on “Library” in the masthead or wait for it to arrive in daily doses in your inbox.

Finally, I first started writing stories about my life in 2013. I called it “Growing Up Now & Then – A Father’s Stories for His Sons” – mostly humorous, self-deprecating, lessons learned. In the “Search by Subject” column they are organized chronologically, maybe scroll for a tantalizing title, like “How I Went to a Whorehouse and Didn’t Get Laid.”
