{"id":1191,"date":"2023-08-11T01:26:00","date_gmt":"2023-08-11T01:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/andydawkins.com\/?p=1191"},"modified":"2023-08-07T20:37:38","modified_gmt":"2023-08-07T20:37:38","slug":"anne-conley","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/andydawkins.com\/?p=1191","title":{"rendered":"Tribute # 5: Anne Conley"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"center\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Anne Conley<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In 1976 Pat DeCarlo (see Tribute before) helped organize an alternative celebration of the country\u2019s founding called \u201cA Bi-Centennial Without Colonies.\u201d\u00a0 My role was getting hot meals from a local Philadelphia food co-op to those getting off buses coming from all over the country the early morning of July 4, 1976.\u00a0 One of the buses was from Minnesota and on the bus was <strong>Anne<\/strong> <strong>Conley<\/strong>, my\u00a0college friend Rocky&#8217;s sister.\u00a0 We&#8217;d met at Rocky&#8217;s wedding &#8211; she recently divorced.\u00a0 I was a perfect guy not to get too serious about and we struck-up a once-a-year romance.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1193\" style=\"width: 315px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/andydawkins.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Annie-Conley.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1193\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-1193 \" src=\"http:\/\/andydawkins.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Annie-Conley.jpg\" alt=\"Annie Conley\" width=\"305\" height=\"295\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1193\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">For a picture of Anne&#8217;s face, go to Rocky Tribute supra.\u00a0 (Note my Pit &amp; Paddock jersey &#8211; any readers have a story about that St. Paul bar?)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Remember, in an earlier Tribute, I credit Rocky with teaching me &#8220;what is fun.&#8221;\u00a0 Same with Anne, but fun in a wonderful new way, steering my life to enjoying <em>being<\/em> <em>good<\/em> <em>in<\/em> <em>bed<\/em>.\u00a0 Seriously, at age 26 I&#8217;d never really known a woman that I couldn&#8217;t wait to see again.\u00a0 More than great sex, we liked the same books, the same music, the same jokes.\u00a0 Come on bus, get here!<\/p>\n<p>After spending the morning of July 4 in Fairmount Park listening to speeches, we walked to the Delaware River and that afternoon flew on the first-ever sea plane from the Liberty Bell to the Statue of Liberty.\u00a0 Lucked into a free Starship concert in Central Park.\u00a0 Met some folks who drove us to Boston to see the Tall Ships.
